#13. Random Recovery Moments

Random recovery moments, RRM, are little summaries of good advice that are honest enough and funny enough to help you out while I am on vacation. Just not so helpful that these experts, who might actually have the advantage of being qualified, will be able to replace me in your affections.
Today’s RRM comes from Ann Douglas at the Mother of All Blogs. Douglas is the author of 28 books, all about pregnancy, birth and child-bearing. Her most recent book concerns my favourite subject, sleep.
Here is a quote from Douglas taken from a National Post article about co-sleeping:
- “The more open-minded you can be, the better prepared you will be for whatever comes, whether it’s when your child wets the bed and you can’t bear to make the bed in the middle of the night, or your child has chicken pox and just has to be by your side at night. Parents can be so judgmental, they’ll say, ‘I could never be a cry-it-out Mum,’ or ‘I’d never let my child into my bed.’ Every time you say, ‘I will never do that,’ you know there just aren’t these absolutes … and 3 a.m. is not the best time to figure that out.”
