Post Partum Weight Loss and Being a Woman.

I can’t decide if this article is about a very insightful book, or if it’s just a joke. When it’s Not on your Plate It Doesn’t Count: The Top Ten Reasons Women Have Trouble Sticking to a Diet from Maclean’s magazine is a review of the book Ten Habits the Mess Up a Woman’s Diet […]

The Post Partum Father

I have indeed started the research into why fathers are so involved after the birth of their first child, and not so involved with the second. And, you know, there are a lot of stories from women to catalogue the phenomenon and prove it exists, there are a lot of personal essays written by fathers […]

Wow!

Two weeks ago, I got on the scale only to discover that I had 8.5 kg or almost 19lbs to lose.
Today, at 8 weeks post partum, I have only 7 kg or 15.4 lbs to go.
Let’s hear it for the weight loss through breast feeding program!
Even better, is that it has the opposite effect on […]

Mysterious Spouses

How is it that, upon the birth of his first child, a father can be so attentive; so sweetly inept but willing to learn, so loving, so warm; and then, upon the birth of his second child, forget even how to support a newborn’s head?
Yesterday, talking to other mothers at the playgroup, I was told […]

A Friendly Reminder

Stand Up Straight!

Posture has never been my strong point. I have mild scoliosis and have always had extremely strong legs to compensate for the weaknesses in my back.
Post partum, my posture is even worse. According to a conversation on the Berkeley Parents’ Network, I am not alone. Members of the group recommend yoga, pilates, and just standing […]

Another Theory

I haven’t eaten any chocolate this week. Well, I did drink a cup of cocoa with my husband last night. I’ve also been watching other snacks and counting my vegetable servings to ensure I get 5 or 6 a day.
That said, I am still avoiding my closet and all the clothes that I know don’t […]
