Hi!
I hope you didn’t think I’d disappeared. I spent Tuesday travelling with the kids from Canada to Germany, most of Wednesday not knowing what day it was, Thursday in a pleasantly jet lagged state and today grappling with technical issues (our firewalls don’t want to let me post here).
Travelling with two kids is not a […]

The evidence is mounting that a happy, healthy mother leads to happy, healthy kids.
“If you’ve got a role model in your life that can’t cope or deal with stress, you’re not going to learn any skills yourself,” says mother Angie Hill in a recent article in the Toronto Star on Post Partum Depression.
Eight months after the birth of […]

Today is Mothers’ Day, or Mothering Sunday, in the UK. Mother’s Day in Canada and the USA isn’t until the first Sunday in May.
All the mothers who are feeling especially tired should just celebrate on both dates by sleeping in and having breakfast brought in on a silver tray.
How do I get this declared a universal […]

The latest trend: a babymoon in an expensive spa.
I am too jealous of the women who get to do it to sum up this article from The Independent for you. The envy shows and it’s not pretty.

I’ve been away from my husband for over three weeks now. It has made me appreciate him and everything that he does for the kids so much more. I think it’s been a good break for the perspective its given me.
One of the most stressful times in a relationship is after a baby comes into […]

In typical fashion, the media has presented these questions as if […]

We all know that breast milk is best for babies, but many of the reasons I nurse are all about me. The milk is free.
Not only is it free, but it’s always the right temperature, doesn’t require any preparation and it comes in an easy to clean package…me. It also helped me lose more than 3/4th […]

How do you handle five kids and take care of yourself?
Helen, mother of five, is truly an expert mother. In yesterday’s post, we discussed how she managed to take care of herself after giving birth to number 5 with 4 other kids in the house. Today in part 2 we talk about how women can prepare […]

One amazing question has run through my mind since my second child was born:
How on earth did my grandparents handle 10 kids?
The truth is, I know there are people who are better parents than I am. There are people who apply themselves with more discipline to the task, who approach parenting the way physicists split atoms. […]

It’s often said that “people don’t change.”
I don’t believe it, myself. True, boyfriends don’t change for their girlfriends, husbands don’t change for their wives (I suspect the opposite is also true), but people do evolve, develop, improve and the same principle works in negative ways too. I, for one, have changed a lot.
I used to […]
