#3. Random Recovery Moment
Random recovery moments are little summaries of good advice that I have found around the internet that are honest enough and funny enough to help you out while I am on vacation. Just not so helpful that these experts, who might actually have the advantage of being qualified, will be able to replace me in your affections.
Our first RRM comes from Marion McBride, a sex expert for the Guardian. She knows what she’s talking about. She’s a four-time mother:
- Yes darling, you have a sexual dysfunction - it’s called childbirth!”
The sexpert’s missive comes from a column in which a single mother who wanted to start dating again, but was worried about what nursing had done to her breasts. McBride’s advice?
It’s all about getting over body worries and on with life.
- “…you can disguise your anxiety with lingerie. Buy yourself an alluring bra and keep it on until you’re past caring. The best feel-good factor is great sex. And you have all that delicious first lust stuff to look forward to. Get on with it. It’s cheaper than implants.”
It really is amazing what the nice underwear can do to correct how women feel after the postpartum blues subside. After all, looking at this nursing bra isn’t making me feel any better…

I can completely relate! Breastfeeding forever changes everything just as childbirth. I don’t even know if one can “get back to, or become reaquainted with” one’s old self. Perhaps one must re-invent a new body image for oneself composed of new identities.
