You’ve probably heard that maternity leave is a year long in Canada. This is not strictly true. If you are married and have a baby while both partners are employed and qualify for government (un)employment insurance, then parental leave is 50 weeks long (there is a two-week waiting period before you can collect the benefits.

In recent months there have been huge efforts to inform women and their partners about the existence of Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Post Natal Depression (PND). There’s just one problem.
