Cuddle Up for Christmas

In Part One of the Generous December Group Writing Project, Chloe at Tangled Thread is threw her support behind Operation Kid Comfort.

Here is an excerpt from a note from Ann, the volunteer coordinator of Operation Kid Comfort:

  • It’s been four years since we first launched the program at Fort Bragg, NC on Make-A-Difference Day, October, 2003. Little did we know how many lives would be effected. The Armed Services YMCA program has now served thousands of children from Fort Drum, NY across the country to San Diego Naval Base, up in Alaska, soon to be in Hawaii, and overseas in Germany as well.
  • Operation Kid Comfort provides photo-transfer quilts and pillows, free of charge, to America’s littlest heroes, the children of our deployed service men and women. We rely on our fund raising and generous folks, like you, to keep us going.
  • Please make your check payable to ASYMCA and send it to:
  • Operation Kid Comfort
  • ASYMCA of Fort Bragg/Pope AFB
  • 208 Thorncliff Drive
  • Fayetteville, NC 28303
  • Right now, we have a very special fund raising project: Fabled Fibers: Art Quilt Enchantments happening. The artists of Quiltart.com were challenged to illustrate their favorite children’s story in and art quilt. We have fairy tales, folk tales, fables, and even some original stories by the artists themselves.
  • The physical exhibit premiered at the International Quilt Festival in Houston last month, and will be traveling throughout the country over the next two years. You can also view all the quilts at www.fabledfibers.com, and support Operation Kid Comfort by purchasing our 2008 Fabled Fibers calendars. Just click on the ‘SHOP’ link at the top of the page.

Chloe, as my Christmas gift to you, I sent Operation Kid Comfort $10. I hope you can cuddle up with those you love over the holidays.
