Day Care Center Workers Leave with Baby Still Inside

by Eliza on June 3rd, 2008

A child-care center in Sydney, Australia are getting a lot of heat since they left a 1-year-old locked inside the center when they all went home for the day. The owner of the center has already come forward to apologize but can you picture what it would’ve been like to be that child or the parents of?

Mr.Khalil, the owner of Scribble’s and Giggles, told news:

“I make no excuses for what happened. We know we were wrong.  It’s just lucky that the baby is ok.”

Imagine pulling up to the center to discover that it’s locked, knowing your child is either not there and with someone else or locked inside. I know if this had been me I would’ve been on a rampage. Door locked, fine I’ll call and then break the darn door down, especially if my child was crying inside.

This was not the case thankfully, instead the mother had called around 5:45p.m. to tell the staff her husband was on his way and might be a FEW minutes late. But no one answered, this was strange since it wasn’t 6p.m. which is closing. Her husband pulled to the center at 6:04p.m. and saw no one there and it was pitch black inside, no crying either. But knowing their child could still be in there and possibly hurt or scared he began calling dozen of numbers, finally calling police they got the door open. Once inside there was no sign of people but he began peeking in rooms and that’s when he saw his little Anika, asleep and strapped inside a bouncer. I can’t even picture what would’ve happened if she hadn’t been strapped in or woke up.

The staff is now taking precautions against this ever happening again, they’ll have a roster for all the rooms and make sure all babies are gone before they close up. No news if this family will be returning to the the center.
