Do Mothers Read E-Books?

by kate baggott on November 30th, 2007

As a writer, especially as a sometimes technology journalist, I’ve always felt I have a responsibility to experiment with new forms. This blog is an experiment. Writing an e-book was another experiment. I’m thinking about writing content especially for mobile phones at the moment. Considering various experiments, doing the research and going through the process is eye-opening and it often inspires articles that I get paid for on the subject.

That said, I’ve been keeping up with the fuss about the Kindle.

And I am wondering if this device will revolutionize how e-books are read. I think some of the biggest readers are mothers. It’s a quiet activity you can do on the subway, while breastfeeding and while the baby is napping. That said, I don’t think the Kindle could survive baby spit up. Repeated spit up. What do you think? Will this device be the one that revolutionizes reading and saves forests around the world? Is the Kindle on your holiday shopping list?
