A bus, a Bet and a Baby

A simple bet has become a true love story that has transformed now into a baby. I just love those sweet love stories and this one is really meant to be written into a book, hopefully they will, if not I know my next story.

Amanda was dared by her friend to kiss the next guy that boarded the bus, if she did she’d be given $40. Some might say that’d be an easy task, for others it isn’t so easy. There are some that are picky on who we might kiss, others that we don’t care who we kiss…especially for $40.

Thankfully the next guy, Brendan, that boarded was cute and would end up the father of her child. Course they wouldn’t know this until she planted her lips on him and they began to talk, she immediately asked him for coffee with the $40 she just got. The two shared stories and realize they’d went to high school together. They got married this past February, cute story isn’t it.

Naturally when the couple’s daughter was born they introduced her to the bus and route. I think this will be one story she’s going to be proud to tell everyone.

Isn’t it cute? Got a story to tell? Write me at eliza.ferree@b5media.com

Last Call: Blogtoberfest Call for Prizes

clip_image001Do you want a little publicity from the entire Lifestyles Channel on b5media?

From October 6 - 17th, we’ll be hosting our Second Annual Lifestyles Channel Blogtoberfest.

We’re planning to run this event for two weeks during the month of October (or until the prizes run out). During that two weeks, we’ll be giving away some amazing prizes.

We’ve already come up with a few prizes of our own by way of previous product reviews, public relations contacts and more to give to readers but would like to supplement them with some other prizes and gifts from sponsors interested in being a part of this event where they could get a little attention and we can reward our loyal readers.

If you’d like to participate by offering a prize (in return for a little publicity throughout our channel) please email me with the following information in the following format:

1. email gayla AT b5media DOT com (substitute AT and DOT with the appropriate @ and .)
2. make the subject line ‘BLOGTOBERFEST PRIZE’
3. describe the prize you would like to offer (what is it and it’s value)
4. include a link to the prize if you have one - if not, a company website would be fine.
5. include your name, the link to the site you’d like us to link to in return for your prize and a graphic you’d like us to use along with your mention.

NOTE: While we would like to include as many prizes as possible - however, we won’t be able to accept every offer for whatever reason. We’d like to encourage prizes that are in line with at least one of our blogs content - so our readers will benefit the fullest from their participation.

Also note that our channel has an international audience and prizes need to be able to be received by readers around the world so please factor in that you’ll need to pay for any shipping if it’s won by an international reader unless otherwise specified or earmarked for specific distribution only.

Prize submissions will be accepted until Tuesday September 30th.

Prize Suggestions: Cash or gift certificates are always a plus, gadgets and random fun things. Electronics, books, memberships, toys and just about anything that is “suitable” to at least one of our blogs.

We’d rather keep this event unique, so things like ‘hosting packages’, services and ‘ebooks’ aren’t going to exactly be relevant to participants. The more fun and creative the contribution the better (and value is a real plus).

What do you get in return?

You’ll be getting promotion in return for your prize on a number of pages/posts throughout the entire channel that yields a high number of visitors daily and monthly. Historically, once a contest of this magnitude is underway, you’ll probably get linked to from other blogs also as these events cause quite a stir around the blogosphere.

You will be guaranteed at least 2 links from every participating blog in the channel and multiple links from the blogs you sponsor for each prize you sponsor.

Example: One sponsor contributes 4 prizes, that’s 4 blogs that provide multiple links to your product website along with the channel wide promotion posts.

The better the prize the more attention you’ll get!

Now, let’s see just how creative some of you can be!

Halloween Countdown

puppycostume

How many of you here are doing the Halloween countdown? If you have older children in the house you probably don’t even have to do a countdown, they’ve already told you 100 times today. However, if this is your first Halloween you are probably trying to plan everything out.

Keep in mind that babies will probably not remember a single detail of this year. The only way they’ll remember is if you are recording or taking pictures, then they’ll look through the photo albums and listen to your stories about that day. So, your best bet is to keep it simple.

I can tell you the one year I thought I’d be super mom and make everyone a handmade costume the older two were the only ones that appreciated it. The youngest would have no clue how hard it was to make her little fairy costume and she hated it the entire time. Last year, we bought the simple store bought puppy suit for Little A and everyone loved it, he did too as long as it wasn’t on his head.

Expect a lot more Halloween type posts in the next two weeks. Don’t forget to drop in with your tips and tricks as well. I’d love to see some Halloween pics too. If you have any send them to eliza.ferree@b5media.com and I’ll post them with a link to your site.

Momma’s Coffee Break

angelinocookiesm.jpg TGIF, right? Well it certainly is here. The hubby hasn’t been wanting to wake up early like he normally does, so the kids almost missed the bus. I hadn’t even realized I do my mornings by his departure. Does anyone else do this?

Today for an after lunch snack I actually gave Little A an Oreo Cookie and milk. Umm, he discovered its good but he can make a rather BIGGER mess than normal. I so wish I had my camera to show you, I’ll try using my phone.

Just to show you this i a random post, anyone watch the debate? If not there are clips on youtube, I’ve been going through when I can. So start chatting about your week!

I like that they have a wetness indicator to show when baby may need a change.

My diaper memory is that they almost always leaked.

Thank you!

Congratulations, please email me at Eliza.ferree@b5media.com with your address. Sorry this was late, forgot what day it was. Shhh.

Cops Deliver Baby

Two police officers got to assist on delivering a newborn baby boy this morning. When a 21-year-old, soon-to-be-mother, Nicole Buonagurio, went into labor at her home. Thankfully there were two officers in the area that were able to respond to her distress call. Within 10 minutes they had a healthy little boy that was quickly transported to the Stony Brook University Medical Center with his mom.

Regrets of Birth Procedure

Do you have any regrets at the way something happened during birth? I know I’ve had four babies, but it was only one that I had a regret. By regret I do not mean I wish it didn’t happen. I was induced with my fourth child, twice and I wish now that I would’ve just allowed him to come on his own. It ended up being fine but I think things could’ve went more smoothly without the inducement.

I’m not the only one that wishes something happened differently during birth. Melissa Joan Hart has announced that her one regret was actually not getting an epidural with her second child. I never experienced this so I wouldn’t know. If you ever got one did you get one with the other baby? Do you regret not getting one or actually getting it? Let me know.

Melissa Joan Hart decided on doing a home birth and letting nature take its course, which means no epidural. She was in labor for 9 hours. OUCH! She told USMagazine:

"You want to get [the baby] out as soon as possible, so you really work. I told my mom and my husband, don’t let me have [the drugs]. I kinda regret that one," says Melissa.

Is there anything you wish would’ve happened differently? Maybe instead of the hospital you wish you did a home birth? I know I always dreamed of one but I think things just happened to quickly for us to ever think about it.
