Taking a Hand to Make Small Steps
Jennifer and Tracee are both fellow bloggers. Both of them entered the Generous December Group Writing Project, both of them comment here on a regular basis, and both of them have let me know that they are in my corner all the time.
They have one more thing in common.
In her entry, Tracee asked her readers to consider volunteering as mentors to girls. Jennifer told us how important mentoring was to her during her “interesting” childhood.
Friends, I want to show you the support you have shown me over the time we’ve shared blogging. I couldn’t donate to both of the causes you each designated, so I found a compromise. I gave $15 to Big Brothers Big Sisters International. I thought it was the best way to send my appreciation of you both as far as possible.

I knew I had stuff in common with Tracee — I forgot she does the mentoring gig as well. (I missed her entry somehow).
Thank you so much. I can see that you’ve had a tough time choosing what to do now that the end of your contest is here. I would too. I think that BBBS International is a stellar mentoring charity decision because it covers all kinds of various mentoring programs.

Thanks so much Kate! You totally rock with your fantastic end of the year donations! Talk about a lot of work with this contest. I really admire all you do.
BBBS is a great group for the donation. I’m a fan of mentoring in general and many groups do it (Mentoring.org has a directory that allows you to enter your zip code so it finds a group located near you).
If you don’t have a lot of money to give - an hour of time changes lives. I find it’s the most efficient and effective way for me to change the world.
