The Eighth Healthy & Fit Family Carnival!

Happy New Year! Extending the time between carnivals from one week to one month has really improved the number and quality of the submissions. As usual, choosing the best ten was tough.
So I made an exception. It’s time for those new years resolutions and naturally, everyone has something to say about weight loss. Even me.
But, this is where I would like to emphasize the family part of the Healthy & Fit Family. Kids should not be on diets. Nope. Not at all. So don’t even show them the links above. Instead, read this article on the South African IOL site (because why have the internet if you’re not going to link to Africa) about what your kids want from you this year. It’s all healthy.
Nutrition
We can all resolve not to use to food to control each other.
Families who do things together, get along better. One of the things a family might resolve to do together is to drink less pop. That’s soda, fizzy drinks, limonade or squash for you non-Canadians. In fact, in my family we’re trying to cut down to one glass on Saturdays after we do the shopping. It’s a treat we’ll share. Still, other bloggers say we should just Say No to Soda.
All of us have to watch what we eat and drink, but not just for our general nutrition. We have to prevent food poisoning too.
And, in case you were worried, a reminder that healthy eating doesn’t have to be expensive.
Exercise
As hard as it will be to find a spot at the gym today, everyone has got to do what they promised themselves. If you’re careful to work out all your muscles, you might even become smarter. Working your core muscles, on the other hand, makes you stand up straighter and taller.
There are 12 months in the year and next month’s carnival will be posted on February 6 and hosted by Revka at Our Family Porch. Submissions are open.
Happy 2007 everyone!

Great Revka! You are brave.
I’ve editted the post to say your blog is hosting.

What exactly does hosting the carnival entail?

Hi Joseph,
Basically, I send you a message containing 9 links for the carnival. You add your own post (the host is always in), read all ten posts and write up an entertaining summary that leads into everyone.
Then, you tell those 9 people when the post is up so that they can link back to your blog.
It takes me about an hour to read everything, do the write up and communicate with everyone.
Revka got her oar in first for February, but I hope you’ll think about hosting the first Tuesday in March. Let me know if you’re up to it.

Kate - Thanks for your efforts in arranging the carnival and that’s incredibly disappointing to hear so many people do not even bother to link back. Fear not - I gotcha back!
