Tom Cruise’s Privacy Warning

by Eliza on May 25th, 2008

Normally when we, as average people, go in to buy something at a store or even put our name on a registry list we automatically assume everything we buy or ask for is on a privacy list. Right? The store is NOT suppose to sell your information to anyone. So how is that different from celebrity people?

For a celebrity that registers their upcoming birth wishes for family and close friends they need to be very careful as stores tend to forget about their privacy agreement and sell their information for the top buck. Should this be allowed?

I don’t think it should, these are people just like the rest of us. Sure, they make a lot more money but that shouldn’t stop them from having privacy. Should it? I mean so what if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes just spent $5 on a baby bottle or $100, or $52 on a blanket or $150. This is their right and they have the money to do it. Tom Cruise recently sent a cease and desist letter to the trendy baby boutique “Petit Tressor” from leaking any type of information true or false on what they buy if they ever buy anything there again. Can ya blame him?

Think about all the times you’ve seen a celebrity walk into a store like Target and have their picture taken. Most of the time, at least for Target, they don’t let us know what the celebrity just bought. Instead it is the person behind the camera that lets everyone know by zooming in on the picture and announcing it for the world to know.

Now, think about the last time you registered your child to a new school or a birthday wish list. How would you feel if you wanted this stuff private for only your family and friends to know and it was leaked to the whole world? If it were me I’d not only be irate but worried that some sick person were going to try contacting my kid. This is how it is for celebrities as well.

I’m glad that Tom Cruise is standing up to these people. I wouldn’t give them my business either.

Oh me too, I feel bad that everyone is there for every second of their lives. Suri will probably never be afraid of strangers because they are always there. Course it could go the other way and be afraid of everyone and have giant trust issues.
