Weightloss and Moms
Why is it so hard for many moms to lose weight after they have children? Many moms say it is because of one of the following reasons:
1. No time to exercise
2. I eat my kids’ leftovers
3. I snack all day as I never have the time to make anything for myself between cleaning house and running after the kids.
4. I can’t diet, I’m breastfeeding.
5. I don’t like all that healthy food, it’s bland.
These are only a few excuses I’ve found in the emails that I sent out. If these are one of your responses, as many are even mine, there is hope and you can start actually losing that weight if you try. For instance, Weightloss Moms wrote an article about how two women were given the challenge to lose 15 lbs in a certain amount of time or they’d be humiliated in front of everyone. Did it happen? No, they lost the weight. This got me thinking, exactly what does it take for us women to lose the weight?
Some of you said you noticed when someone said something to you, for myself the issue was shopping for a dress to a big event and I couldn’t fit into anything I’d ever worn. Both of these brought women to realize their weight had become an issue. Sometimes doctors told them it was a health issue and not just an appearance.
How do women lose the weight? Several wrote me they joined Weight Watchers, this is one I haven’t tried yet. Others decided they’d start small and begin walking and later jogging with their kids. Yes, even small ones can go with, you may need a walker or a backpack but it does work. My biggest issue had been the weather but the weather is getting nice now so it looks like I won’t be able to use that as an excuse any longer. Others, stop eating your kids food, if you haven’t made yourself something to eat stop everything you are doing and do it. Your children aren’t going to benefit if you pass out from not eating correctly.
Once you begin losing the weight or just eating healthier you will feel better about yourself. If you really want to lose the weight it is going to take some determination. Are you ready? Who wants to take this journey with me? Let me know below. (we will be doing more on this topic later in the week)

For me it has all been about baby steps.
1. I stopped drinking soda and sugary drinks in November.
2. I also decided that if and when we had to stop at Fast Food I would only order the kids meal.
3. When I eat, I use a much smaller plate than everyone else.
4. Start your day with protein and not carbs.
5. And three weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers Online.
From November to March I lost 2 pounds - something about those holiday sweets! Since joining WW I have lost 6 more and feel so much better already. I have a long way to go still, but I will do it.

Having a fitness goal works best for me. I am more likely exercise if I call it “training.” Training for something like a 5K is a good goal and there are frequently 5K running events all over.

After I quit smoking a couple of years ago, weight started to become an issue for me - the first time in my life. While some around me say I look healthy, I don’t feel good about myself anymore. I want to be back in my skinny jeans!
I began using Alli - I met a woman in Walmart who was using it with great success and was back for her 3rd bottle to reach her goal.
The thing about Alli is you have to stick to 14 grams of fat per meal or you’ll pay for it! And it’s not pleasant.
Alli is sort of an insurance policy that makes sure you stick to our diet.
Since I began the program in Dec. I’ve lost 20 pounds. I’ve landed on sort of a plateau at the moment so it’s time to start actually working out. Not that much further to go — and I can’t wait to get there.
