Why Ruin It with Resolutions?
I’m happy that 2007 is here. I started out with lots of ideas for how to go forward: spend less, drive less, use less gas, less paper, and eat less.
The truth is, what I really want is more: More love, more recognition, more success, more patience, more time and more energy. Most of all, I want to get more enjoyment out of who I am and who I am with now.
Maybe, I shouldn’t ruin it with resolutions.
That’s the problem with writing a blog. I feel a committment to live by what I write. If I say, I am going to lose 10 pounds, re-write my novel into something better, start a savings money for both of the kids’ futures, work on my relationship, and wean the baby, the I am accountable to anyone who reads this…and if I don’t live up to my expectations, I’ll feel like a failure to myself and to you even if my expectations are completely unrealistic.
Living one day at a time, starting each morning anew, forgiving myself for what happened yesterday, all of those ideas seem like a better way forward to me.
I don’t know. Have you decided to make a new year’s resolution?

I no longer resolve to do things, I resolve to try to do them.
That gives me an easy out.
But if I can give up chocolate covered pretzels, I’m thinking curing cancer is not far behind.
