World Vision is a Popular Choice
Between Kerri whose post appears in part three of the Generous December Group Writing Project and Reid Elizabeth’s Mommy whose post appears in part six, World Vision has two amazing supporters.
You also reminded me of the third supporter. My great-aunt Mary goes over the World Vision gift catalogue with more enthusiasm than my children spend on the toy ads that arrive in our mailbox every Saturday between mid-October and mid-December. In fact, Aunt Mary has been the inspiration behind charitable campaigns I’ve run in the past.
This year, I toyed with the idea of getting Aunt Mary something else for Christmas. There are so many worthwhile charities, so many that reflect my auntie’s love of children, of medical access activism, of social justice.
Still, a favorite is a favorite, Kerri and Reid’s mother reminded me. So, Aunt Mary, this year I made a $20 donation to the World Vision Emergency Preparedness fund as your Christmas gift. With our climate suffering and so many emergencies being created as a result, it seemed like the place you would most want your gift to go.
Merry Christmas Aunt Mary (and Reid Elizabeth, her mommy, and Kerri).

Thanks, Kate! You rock! You know, wherever the money goes, to know what you’re sacrificing to give to those in need is just fantastic. Merry Christmas, my friend. :)
