Your 1st Birth Story
Everyone has a different birth story, I’d love to hear your 1st birth story. You know we all read books and try preparing for that first birth. Sometimes the birth plan goes just like it is written, but sometimes it doesn’t, heck sometimes even the back-up plan doesn’t go so well.
For myself, I was in and out of the hospital for one reason or another. But when it came to giving birth to our first son, I’d almost give birth at home. Why? I didn’t really think I was in labor, I had false beliefs that my water would break in the middle of a store or in my bed and then I’d have horrible pains.
That wasn’t my case, throughout the day I’d think I had to well…ummm, take a dump (sorry no other way to put it). I’d wait and nothing, I felt mild discomfort but just thought I was constipated. Throughout the day I’d lay down, or try taking a warm bath. Nothing would help. I had no pains, water leaking or anything the doctor had told me. Later in the night I would discover the “blood show” when I used the bathroom. That’s when I knew, but since I really didn’t have the pains I was calm and began to pack my bags. Finally, I woke the hubby and told him it was time. He almost went to sleep thinking he dreamed it because I wasn’t screaming in pain.
TIP: You don’t always feel the pain.
Once he got up we had to find a driver, we didn’t have a car yet and our ride happened to be out on the town that night. Eeek. The contractions were getting closer together, but to me it just felt like I had to use the restroom. I didn’t believe they were contractions much. It was in the middle of the night and I didn’t want to wake anyone up ,(like the teen) but the hubby jumped to the task and ran downstairs to wake them.
My good friend came outside and was able to see that I must be in labor, even though I didn’t have pains. Inside the car though I’d begin gripping the car door with all my might, the urge to push was getting stronger. The hospital was empty, inside the doctors were all chatting with each other and not looking at us. At a loss for words I ran to the bathroom, by the time I came out our neighbor had chewed out the staff and they promptly ushered me up the stairs. The elevator though had other plans as it went up, my tummy went further down.
Our doctor was not in town and would never make it in time and the baby they told me would never make it was coming, no matter what. The doctors quickly examined me, I was only a 3 and would be there a few days. I was very upset, not only was the pain getting stronger but I would be here longer than expected. They told my hubby he could take a smoke outside, but within that 5 minutes I would become fully dilated and when he walked in they were rushing me to delivery. They told me to push at the next contraction, which I learned was the urge to use the restroom, but that’s when they realized the water hadn’t broke. With one pop of the hook, he was coming through and two pushes later he would be in my arms.
What’s your story? Did the birth go as planned?

I was in the hospital in and out throughout my pregnancy because not only did my son (whom I didnt know what he was) give me migraines from the word go, but he also decided to want to come early.
I didn’t know I was even pregnant till I had a bad migraine and I was throwing up a week after it and my friend told me to get a test, so I did and low and behold I was already 9 weeks.
My early contractions came at 25 weeks and then by the time I was 40 he didn’t want to come. My water broke the before I was due and I went into the hospital, and I was so drugged on my epidural I had to have my mother and my ex-husband (and he was my ex then too, lol) move my legs for me. I had to have pressure to direct me where to focus where to push. An hour later my son (who I thought was a girl) came out with a pointed head. He held up his neck, looked around, and latched on. 4 years later, he has a baby sister (same dad, I know!) and she was a totally different pregnancy and delivery.
